This week we will have a release party for the new Ubuntu coming out.

||||
Quantal Quetzal is set to be released this Thursday the 18th and we will

||||
be running an install fest for new users and veterans alike.
|
||||

We will be running the install fest in the Csis canteen, downstairs at 6
|
||||
pm, followed by a get together in Scholars afterwards at 7pm to talk about
|
||||
all things nerd. If you're a new user, this part will be handy to pick up
|
||||
tips on how to get around and set things up. If you've been using a while,
|
||||
your input would be welcomed.

||||

Demonware are coming to give a talk on an insight into what employers look

for in applicants. The talk is down stairs in Csis CSG01 at 6pm. There

follows a meet and greet in the scholars later to get to know the faces
|
||||
behind the screen name.

||||

Anyone who owes for membership can pay up tonight (or anytime they see a

member of the committee) and avail of free refreshments at the Scholars

later tonight.

There will also be demo's of comp soc's features such as our chat and mail

systems as well as Linux displays and we can sort people out with live

||||

Due to unforeseen circumstances the UL computer society will be holding an Extraordinary General Meeting on the 13th of March at 18:10 in KBG10. The agenda for the meeting currently stands as the following

1. Election of a President
|
||||
The President of the society recently resigned and we need to elect a new President.
|
||||
2. Election of a Secretary
|
||||
Currently Brian Stewart is acting as president until The EGM and therefore couldn’t act as secretary at the same time. He resigned and Roisín McMullin was appointed by the committee to be secretary in his stead.
|
||||
3. Constitution
|
||||
The common constitution that was adopted by clubs and societies last year at clubs and socs council has to be adopted by the society. Brian Stewart (yuppy700) has submitted a modified version of the constitution for approval at the EGM.
|
||||
4. Honorary Membership
|
||||
The committee recognises the work of Cathal Ferris (pio) in helping out the Computer society at 2 recruitment drives in the past year and would like to award him with honorary membership of the society.
|
||||
5. The Admin Team and admin recruitment
|
||||
A short talk will be delivered on the admin team and anyone who is interested in joining can approach the committee at this point about it.
|
